Title: World Hearing Day 2025: Empower Yourself To Make Ear And Hearing Care A Reality For All
Alternate tite:
World Hearing Day 2025: Empower yourself to make ear and hearing care a reality for all
Description:
We had a courtesy call/advocacy visit to the Chief Medical Director of the institution and had a robust engagement with him. This was followed by a public lecture on 3rd March, 2025 centred on the theme. It had in attendance, students and teachers, including heads of nursing department, provost of the college of medicine, and also drug company representatives as partners.
We subsequently made advocacy visits on 4th March, 2025 to the state Commissioner of Health, and the Director General of the disability rights commission where we had fruitful engagements and presented banners for call to action on hearing loss. In each of these visits, we got a commitment to partnership with the state on pathways to mitigate hearing loss among the state citizens at all levels. On 4th and 5th March, 2025, we had radio and TV engagements centred on the theme and on specific aspects of hearing loss. Free outreaches were also carried out from 5th -7thMarch, 2025 including one rural and two hospital based outreaches. The target populations were the rural populace, pregnant women and children, adolescents, the elderly, and healthcare workers. Health talks were made, and WHD 2025 promotional materials were distributed. Free consultations were done, and there were also ear syringing, removal of foreign bodies and some other minor ear procedures. Free audiological tests using the hear WHO app and the conventional audiometers were also carried out. Patients needing further evaluation were referred to our hospital, a tertiary centre for continued follow up.
