The world hearing day 2025 was successfully celebrated by the department of otorhinolaryngology at Karpagam Faculty of Medical Sciences and Research, Othakalmadapam, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India – 641032. Detailed report of the evnt follows:
On 03/03/2025, program started with a formal inauguration of the events by the Dean of the institute along with medical director, Vice principal and other dignitaries. This was followed by a symposium were talks by the faculties on various topics related to hearing and factors affecting it. The symposium ended with a vote of thanks.
This was followed by a poster competition by the MBBS students and the nursing students. Students did an exemplary participation in the competition and prizes were distributed to the winners.
We had organized a free hearing screening camp as part of the celebration and happy to say that we had a whole hearted participation from the community.

Impactful Story:
Around 50 people were screened for hearing loss that included all age groups. People from poor socio-economic strata of the society was greatly benefited with this screening and identification. Symposium conducted on the importance of world hearing day celebration was an eye opener for many including the health care workers regarding increased used of head phones and noise pollution and its impact on their day to day life that is often over looked. Few of our medical graduates were identified to have sensorineural hearing loss which was not diagnosed and got benefited for the same.
