Title: Get involved with your health hearing. Healthcare Professionals, take care of your hearing and the hearing health of your patients
Alternate tite:
Get involved with your health hearing. Healthcare professionals, take care of your hearing and the hearing health of your patients.
Description:
On March 3, 2025, was National holiday in Brazil, the event took place online (Instagram/Facebook). On March 10, 2025, we carried out the in-person campaign/event. The campaign took place at 4 points in the HCRP-complex, reaching employees, healthcare professionals, students, patients and companions. Pamphlets(3.000) were distributed, addressing people individually with guidance on taking care of their hearing health. Information is also being continuously disseminated on external electronic panels and internal TV monitors and media

Unfortunately, it was not possible to use the HearWHO-screening-APP, as it has not yet been translated to Brazilian-Portuguese, so we chose to apply “The Amsterdam Inventory for Auditory Disability and Handicap Brazilian version (Pt-AIADH) – Zanchettaet al, 2020” questionnaire, applied by the students for 231 people. A total of 50 people participated directly in the campaign/event. The campaign was attended by support staff (3), teachers (4), doctors (3), speech therapists (5), speech therapy and medical students (35), and representatives of the Otorhinolaryngology and Multidisciplinary Leagues and was supported by HCRP-FMRP-USP and FAEPA.

Impactful Story:
This is the personal story of an employee who illustrates the power of awareness and prevention campaigns. The individual is a 42-year-old-male who works in the hospital-laundry and suffered from tinnitus in one ear and had difficulty hearing in noisy environments. He thought this was related to the noise in the environment, but had never considered having a hearing assessment. The campaign’s guidance motivated him to seek care, which he did the following day. Five days later came to thank us, his diagnosis was confirmed as a vestibulocochlear neuroma, which was already larger than 3 cm and indicated surgical treatment.
