Protect your and your children’s hearing.
Description:
World Hearing Day is celebrated on March 3 every year. In this regard, the research team of the Society for Human Rights and Environment Protection (SHEP) knew that March 3 is World Hearing Day, but it was never considered to celebrate it. This year, World Hearing Day was celebrated on March 3rd by the SHEP Pakistan in a grand manner and the message of World Hearing Day was conveyed to thousands, if not millions, of people through print, electronic and social media.
Of course, credit for this goes to Global Hearing Health (GHH), on whose advice and wish this day was organized. The Society for Human Rights and Environmental Protection (SHEP) Pakistan celebrated World Hearing Day on March 3. In this regard, Prof. James E. Saunders, Co-Chair of the Global Hearing Health Coalition (Professor of Otology / Neurotology Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth), has been in constant contact with us and provided us with guidance in this regard. Initially, SHEP NGO Pakistan, had submitted a proposal that included a larger event through which a larger number of Pakistanis would have been aware of World Hearing Day. However, due to the large number of requests received by the donor, the Society for Human Rights and Environmental Protection (SHEP) Pakistan, was excused from the 2025 event, but the wish was expressed that the SHEP NGO Pakistan should celebrate World Hearing Day. In this regard, the Head of the Administrative Committee of SHEP NGO Pakistan, Ms. Sharon Teresa, and her team members Ms. Ushna Sheikh, Ms. Nazia Riayasat and Ms. Nida Saleem requested SHEP NGO President Saeed Rajput, General Secretary Ijaz Ali Khan and other office bearers of the NGO to organize the celebration of the International Day of Hearing. At the request of Ms. Sharon Teresa, Head of the Administrative Committee of SHEP NGO Pakistan, and her team, SHEP NGO President Saeed Rajput, General Secretary Ijaz Ali Khan and other office bearers of the NGO formally approved the celebration of World Hearing Day, and thus, for the first time in the year 2025, World Hearing Day was celebrated under the auspices of SHEP NGO.
The primary objectives of this event are to raise awareness about hearing loss and its impact on individuals and communities. Hearing loss is often underrecognized, and many people are unaware of the significant effect it can have on quality of life, communication, and overall well-being. By highlighting the prevalence, causes, and consequences of hearing impairment, this event aims to bring attention to an issue that affects millions worldwide.
Another key objective is to educate participants on preventive care and the various treatment options available. Many cases of hearing loss can be prevented with proper care, such as limiting exposure to loud noises and maintaining ear health. For those who are already experiencing hearing difficulties, the event will explore a range of treatment options, including hearing aids, therapies, and medical interventions that can significantly improve quality of life.
The importance of early detection and intervention is also a critical focus. Timely hearing screenings can help identify hearing loss in its early stages, leading to more effective treatments and a better prognosis. This event will emphasize how early intervention can prevent more severe complications and ensure individuals have access to appropriate resources.
Lastly, the event aims to connect the community with expert guidance on hearing health. By bringing together healthcare professionals, audiologists, and hearing specialists, participants will have the opportunity to receive expert advice, learn about the latest advancements in hearing care, and access valuable resources to help them take charge of their hearing health.
