Alternate tite:

World Hearing Day 2025

Description:

This District 309 Lions Clubs International organised and hosted a World Hearing Day event on 13/3/2025 together with volunteers from the Leos Club to f Nanyang Polytechnic and Lions Club of Singapore Meyer (LCS Meyer), and a team of ENT doctors and Audiologists.

This year’s theme “Empower yourself to make ear and hearing care a reality for all!” has always been a focus for LCS Meyer having organised free community hearing screening and hearing aid fitting for the elderly members of the Lion’s Befrienders Active Ageing Centre and Lion’s Homes for the Elders since 2015; and organised Dangerous Decibels programmes for young school children since 2020.

For this year’s programme, we invited members of one district of Lion’s Befrienders and SASCO Senior Care and Active Aging Centre.

The programme included talks by the ENT doctors on How we Hear, Hearing and Dementia and Caring for the hearing impaired elder; games for seniors, hearing screening Audiometry and Otoscopy; and a hefty meal!

We had a total of 49 participants, 14 volunteers from the polytechnic, 1 volunteer Audiovisual technician and 1 volunteer translator.

The 4 medical/audiology volunteers were Dr. Rebecca Heywood, Dr. Vyas Prasad, Mr. Ronald Burgess and Ms. Irene Ying.
