Alternate tite:

Deafness and Hearing Loss 2025

Description:

Our World Hearing Day 2025 event in Calabar was held in partnership with the 305 Special Mobility Group of the Nigerian Air Force to promote awareness and accessibility to good hearing healthcare for all.

On March 2nd 2025, a radio programme was carried out in collaboration with the Association Of Resident Doctors, University Of Calabar Teaching Hospital, Calabar on sparkling FM to create awareness to the members of the public on making ear and hearing healthcare a reality.

On March 7th 2025, a symposium at the Aircrew Room of the Nigerian Air Force Base brought together experts and key stakeholders to discuss the causes and effects of hearing loss. Ear, Nose and Throat specialists delivered insightful lectures, followed by an engaging panel discussion featuring medical professionals, a state legislator, a nightclub CEO, a WHO representative, and military personnel, all emphasizing the importance of hearing preservation. Participants received educational materials and earplugs, reinforcing the need for proactive hearing care.

On March 8th 2025, a free medical outreach at the Air Force Base Clinic provided consultations to 73 individuals, with 42 diagnosed with hearing-related conditions. Each patient received the necessary medical attention to address their hearing health needs.

Although financial limitations meant a scaled-down program, the event successfully raised awareness and provided essential hearing care services to the community.
