The Dangerous Decibels noise-induced hearing loss and tinnitus prevention program was delivered to 86 students, grades 5 to 9 of the St. Julian’s School in Carcavelos, Portugal by Dr. Katya Freire (Audicare) and Prof. William Martin (Dangerous Decibels) over two days in in March in honor of World Hearing Day. The students enthusiastically engaged in program activities demonstrating the physics of sound, normal anatomy and physiology of hearing, and the pathophysiology of noise-induced hearing loss. They also learned and practiced situation-specific strategies to protect their ears.
