Bowen University Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, marked a milestone by observing World Hearing Day for the first time in history. The global theme for this year’s celebration was ”Changing Mindsets: Empower Yourself to Make Ear and Hearing Care a Reality for All!”. The hospital joined the global community in celebrating World Hearing Day on 3rd March, 2025.
The hospital management organized a four-day free Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) screening and treatment exercise for all staff members. The hospital management collaborated with Brave FM 91.1, a local radio broadcasting station to raise awareness about World Hearing Day. With the goal of promoting awareness on preventing deafness and hearing loss. Prof. Olajide emphasized the significance of hearing care and its impact on overall health.
In conclusion, the following practical advice to promoting healthy hearing habits were offered:
• Avoid use of sharp objects in or around the ears
• Limit the use of earpieces and head phones
• Minimize exposure to noisy environment
By following these simple tips, individuals can significantly reduce their risk of hearing damage and promote overall ear health.
