Title: World Hearing Day 2025 Changing Mindsets
Alternate tite:
World Hearing Day 2025 Changing Mindsets
Description:
Macquarie University Hearing proudly marked World Hearing Day 2025 with a vibrant, inclusive event themed around the WHO’s call to “Change mindsets: Empower yourself to make ear and hearing care a reality for all!” The day opened with an address by Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC, Governor of New South Wales, who spoke passionately about the need to break down stigma and prioritise hearing health for all. A moving panel featuring individuals with age-related hearing loss offered real-life insights into the impact of hearing challenges and the importance of support. Attendees engaged with consumer groups, explored policy discussions, and took advantage of free hearing checks and expert advice from audiologists. The event fostered awareness, inclusion, and empowerment, encouraging individuals to take proactive steps in managing their hearing health. Macquarie University Hearing remains committed to advancing research, innovation, and advocacy to improve hearing outcomes in Australia and globally.
Primary site: WPR – Australia
Impactful Story:
Brendan Lonergan, President of Hearing Matters Australia, shared a powerful message from Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley. At a Government House reception, a guest tearfully told Her Excellency that after attending the World Hearing Day celebrations at Macquarie University, she connected with a provider and now has hearing in her deaf ear for the first time in 53 years. This moving story highlights the life-changing impact of the event and the importance of raising awareness, improving access, and fostering connections in the hearing health community. It stands as a testament to the efforts of all involved.
