Title: An awareness and screening campaign on changing mindsets.
Alternate tite:
An awareness and screening campaign on changing mindsets.
Description:
A one day awareness session for general public at Pakistan Institute of Rehabilitation Sciences (PIRS) where their questions, fears, myths, misconceptions etc were answered. A screening session for all the security and administration staff was also carried out with Otoscopy and Audiometry.
A school screening event where primary and secondary school children were screened and educated on ear and hearing health and hygiene.
Primary site: EMR – Pakistan
Impactful Story:
The security staff of PIRS who were screened for their hearing, never had any type of screening before. When they were made to sit for audiometry, they were scared and a little nervous but later when they came to know about their hearing status and witnessed the comfortable process, they pledged to check their hearing regularly, specially those of age 50 and above. Some of them also suggested to bring their family members for hearing screening, including their elderly parents, their young children and their spouses. There was clearly a positive change in their attitudes towards hearing screening.
