This interactive event aimed to raise awareness for older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people about hearing loss in in older populations. Supported by the Ear Health Coordinator Program from the Aboriginal Health Alliance, NT members of the Danila Dilba Aged Care Program had the opportunity to to learn about signs and impacts of hearing loss in the elderly; have a hearing screen, see inside their ears using video-otoscopy, hearing aid trouble shooting and more. All the participants who had their hearing screened required further referrals for full diagnostic screenings and over-all was deemed a success by all involved.

Impactful Story:

Of all the attendees who had their hearing screened at this event – 100% were recommended to go for a full diagnostic hearing test with many saying they thought they had a hearing loss but had not ever had it tested.
