This year the faculty and residents of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology of Jubilee Mission Medical College, Thrissur, Kerala, India came together to celebrate World hearing day. The aim was to spread awareness regarding the importance of hearing and ear care. We also aimed at removing the stigma associated with hearing loss. Free hearing evaluation was conducted over a period of four days. The target population included forty drivers (autorickshaw, taxi and ambulance), as they are frequently exposed to loud noise. However, only 25 showed up for the screening, which itself shows the lack of knowledge of the impact of noise pollution amongst the general public population. Amongst those who were screened, 22 out of 25 drivers had hearing loss. Advise regarding treatment options were also offered to them by the experts.
