The Austrian Parliament is a place of active democracy. In the context of public guided tours the Austrian Parliamentary
Administration provides an insight into history, politics, culture und architecture to visitors and tourists.
No special tours for hard of hearing or deafened people have been offered so far. Under the motto of the World Hearing
Day 2024 „CHANGING MINDSETS – DAS LEBEN GEHÖRT GEHÖRT“ an initial guided tour using hearing loops and speech-to-
text interpreting took place. In the future this will enable numerous people with hearing loss to participate in public and
political life.
As a consequence of this raising awareness and information about hearing loss and its influence on inclusion of persons
with hearing loss was provided for our parliamentarians and their health officers.
