Additional site(s):

The SAUTI project, spearheaded by eHealth360, addresses Nigeria’s hearing health crisis by mobilizing Patent Medicine Stores (PMS) as primary healthcare centers. In Kano, 50 PMS vendors were trained to provide Primary Ear and Hear Care using the hearWHO app. Leveraging PMS accessibility, the project screened 7,122 community members, encompassing 21% women and 79% men. Additionally, collaboration with three colleges of health sciences resulted in student training and cascading education efforts. Identified cases were promptly referred Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital for early intervention, bolstering healthcare access and community empowerment. The initiative underscores the potential of technology and community engagement to bridge healthcare disparities, positioning Nigeria toward improved hearing health outcomes.
