HEARING CARE CAMPAIGN AT THE NIGER DELTA CREEKS

Primary site: AFR – Nigeria
Additional site(s):

The event was held at southern Ijaw local government area of Bayelsa state, Nigeria. These regions are mostly riverine area with limited access to basic social amenities. To reach our target audience we applied local methods. Our event is a 3-day project featuring hearing care awareness campaign at a secondary and primary, radio campaign program, door-to-door campaign and a town hall event. At the town hall event we delivered lectures on how to care for the ear using WHO materials, offered free ear screening test and general medical checkup. We engage and educate local authority on our hearing care. We also organized quiz competition on hearing care at the schools visited as a means of engaging the student throughout the lecture. From the three event we reached a total of 800 community members at the Niger Delta creeks.
