School Ear & Hearing Health Program to Avert Preventable Hearing Loss

World Hearing Day 3rd March 2024 was marked with active participation in an awareness rally jointly organized by various organizations, which was concluded with a media-briefing event where representatives from all the organizations expressed their greetings and plans to promote ear and hearing health in Nepal. Government authorities, policy makers and health workers attended the rally carrying placards with information on ear and hearing care.

During the week, Ear Care Nepal conducted school ear and hearing health program at three schools of Lalitpur district; Buddha Secondary School, Yuva Sahabhagita Secondary School and Nawajyoti Secondary School. 1,016 children were screened and treated for ear diseases and hearing evaluated using pure tone audiometry. Children and their teachers were educated about ear and hearing health using education materials such as animation video, booklets and a storybook on ear and hearing health, all developed in local language.
