Global Café: In Conversation with Experts, “Changing Mindsets: Let’s Make Ear and Hearing Care a Reality for All”

Emerging out of digital adaptations during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, the International Federation on Ageing (IFA) began hosting weekly webinars with experts in diverse fields of research to make an effort to increase healthy ageing. In celebration of World Hearing Day 2024, the IFA hosted a Global Café with Dr. Sue Archbold, Senior Research Audiologist and Coordinator of the CI International Community of Action, on March 1st, 2024. The webinar was made available to the public by registering through a Zoom link. The webinar ran for one hour, with international engagement from 74 registrants, and 42 audience members, including members of civil society, academia, and non-government organizations. The webinar creating a space to discuss a range of topics, including user experiences with cochlear implants, the lack of resources and funding available for cochlear care, advocating for expanding access and education surrounding hearing care, and user-centered research design of hearing technologies.
