At the monthly hard of hearing community group meeting, Dr Kate Hough from University of Southampton led a craft session to celebrate World Hearing Day. To go with the theme of Changing Mindsets, members were asked to design a badge which will encourage members of the public to ‘Change their mindsets’ around hearing loss and reduce the stigma. The group made 69 badge designs in total and then they voted for their favourite badge. The winning badge will be made into a real badge that we can wear. The craft encouraged important conversations about hearing loss and how we can raise awareness and change mindsets. The badge designs were made into a poster which we will use for public engagement activities to raise awareness.
