QECH ENT/Audiology clinics jointly with the Malawi Liverpool Welcome Trust commemorated the 2024 World hearing day event on 1st March 2024 at Mulunguzi secondary school in Zomba district. The target audience were the teachers, students, students from Mphalankhanga deaf school and the surrounding communities. The Zomba District health officer, Dr. Alexander Chijuwa was the guest of honour. The theme of event was: “Lets make ear and hearing care a reality for all. The aims of the event were: advocacy, ear and hearing awareness campaign through speeches, dances by the deaf kids, and hearing screenings. During the event, over 250 people underwent through otoscopic examination.79 people had ear and hearing problems which= 38 people had ear wax which got syringed out during the event, 17 people had ear infection, 16 people were diagnosed with hearing loss, and 8 people had normal hearing level. Speeches about ear and hearing issues were available.
