Hearing NZ has over 30 events across NZ. We started with Rally at Parliment to highlight the need to accessiblity for people with hearing loss. Five other disability groups joined in. A Petition was delivered to the MP for disabilites, 14 ministers attended and a committment to accessible legilsation with enforceable standards was obtained from 5 out of 6 parties in parliment. This was livestreamed on facebook. Interview were conducted with Radio New Zealand, NZ herald and the Post. Prior to the Rally, we met with the ministers to discuss concerns. A seminar on tinnitus was presented to the public. 1000 White cat pins were distributed to make hearing loss visable. Hearing NZ uses the white cat as a symbol of hearing loss. 300 hearing screenings were perfomed. 4 talks to community groups at shopping centres. Nationwide campaign to test your hearing using the WHO app was launched.
