The “Ear and Hearing Care for All – 2024” program, hosted by the Department of Disability Studies, University of Kelaniya, celebrated World Hearing Day (WHD) with a variety of activities. The week-long event began with a street drama aimed at dispelling myths about hearing loss. On March 3rd, WHD, a hearing screening program was conducted for individuals from the local community. Informative posters were displayed at the screening site to raise awareness about hearing care. Concurrently, a social media-based e-poster competition for adults was held with the theme “Safeguard Your Hearing,” while a social media art competition for young adults over 15 years explored the theme “Hearing Care.” To fund these activities, the program sold key tags featuring the WHD theme. Overall, the initiative combined education, community engagement, and fundraising to promote ear and hearing health.
