World Hearing Day – Changing Mindsets

Primary site: EUR – United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
Additional site(s):

The lab celebrated World Hearing Day with an event for our research panel members, who have personal experience of hearing impairment and continue to contribute to our research work. The event was designed to highlight the importance of hearing care, and included a talk, a photography exhibition, and interactive activities. Attendees were given the opportunity to share their lived experience of getting their hearing tested, and of how using hearing aids has improved their lives and those of their loved ones. The photography exhibition showcased submissions in which people depicted the positives of their hearing. Our goal was to start the process of co-creating informative materials, including flyers and posters, based on real-life experiences that emphasize the importance of hearing health and encourage people to get their hearing checked.
