Event Description:
This event was part of the Leiden City of Science 2022. Jan de Laat and Margriet van Gendt, both audiologists at the dept. of Otorhinolaryngology at the LUMC presented at this event informing the public about the ear, hearing and hearing protection, and the bionic ear. The bionic ear bypasses the hair cells in the inner ear by directly stimulating the auditory nerve electrically. A bionic ear user has attended this live event. There were many interactive activities, including hearing screenings, sound level measurements, a silent disco, live music, a tympanostomy simulation, and more.
