Event Description:
The event was part of the Leiden City of Science 2022. Jan de Laat and Margriet van Gendt, both audiologists at the dept. of Otorhinolaryngology at the LUMC had educational, interactive presentations about the ear, hearing, hearing protection, and the bionic ear. The bionic ear bypasses the hair cells in the inner ear by directly stimulating the auditory nerve electrically. A bilateral bionic ear user attended this live event. There were interactive activities, including hearing screenings, sound level measurements, tympanostomy for kids, a silent disco and information stands.
