Event Description:

On 24/03/22, a free auditory screening was conducted by an Audiologist from Mulago National Referral Hospital benefiting 74p’ple (29m, 45f).

On the event day, a table was set up at Kosovo shopping center, the WHD banner raised, a local artist mobilized people through entertainment, 2facilitators sensitized p’ple on safe listening. 1,550copies of WHO leaflets and brochures disseminated to bystanders, shoppers, and students who gathered – 2000p’ple were reached through this particular session.

Some awareness was publicized in Bukedde local newspaper reaching over 29,180p’ple across Uganda

WHO materials also be prepared and availed in large print formats for community members with low vision. 19 of community members who turned up preferred information in large print.

Acoustic boxes may be availed by the national WHO offices to support planned community-based hearing screening when marking future world hearing day celebrations. This time round, it was hard for us to find a screening place without background noise interruptions.
