Event Description:

In the second year of the pandemic, the World Hearing Day campaign in Germany took place primarily digitally (on social media) as well as on radio, TV and in online and print media. Fortunately, in contrast to 2021, numerous live events were held (some are listed here: https://welttag-des-hoerens.de/akteure/ under “Aktionen”).

The campaign stood under the patronage of the German Federal Minister of Health. It was supported by hearing acousticians’ associations in Switzerland and Austria.

What Additional Materials Would Be Helpful:

The German campaign contributed to the dissemination of the WHO global standard for safe listening venues and events. BVHI sought the endorsement of the standard by the German event industry (represented by its umbrella interest group, IGVW). Consequently, IGVW participated in the international WHO panel on March 2nd and made its support of the standard public.

Did You Have A World Hearing Day Event Last Year: Yes, and we submitted a report to the WHF/WHO

Other Suggestions:

The event reached 44 million people total, including 9.5 million radio listeners, 2 million TV viewers, 7.5 million readers, 27 million times accessed online articles, 1,176 posts on social media. The correct numbers could not be given above because the number limit was set too low.
