Event Description:

New born hearing screening was done in newborns who were brought to ENT OPD of our institute for ear check-up or those who were referred from pediatric OPD and neonatal ICU.
Otoacoustic emissions (OAE) was the test carried out by the trained technicians. NBHS is being continued at our institute. At present, we are only able to perform test in those who are viewed as ‘at-risk’ new born.
From OAE, we find out if the inner ear is intact or not. Accordingly, we classify the result as ‘pass’ if test intact mechanism was found and ‘refer’ if emissions not picked up.
