A community Scrabble tournament was organized on #WHD in Bamenda to heighten awareness around hearing health in an interactive, enlightening, and exciting manner. The tournament featured special Scrabble tiles that included ear and hearing care terms, offering a novel approach to education on hearing health. The event started with a presentation on the importance of celebrating #World Hearing Day. It attracted community leaders and first-time attendees, who participated in eight rounds of Scrabble, each round aimed at increasing awareness about hearing health. Alongside the games, educational scorecards were handed out, providing valuable information on preventing hearing loss and the importance of early detection. A focal group discussion was held to encourage open discussions on the need for policy changes and the importance of early and accessible care for hearing health. The innovative use of social media campaigns helped to amplify the reach of the tournament’s message beyond the physical participants.
