Changing mindsets about hearing (Hearing Care for All)

Primary site: WPR – Australia
Additional site(s): South Pacific region

The University of Queensland Centre for Hearing Research produced a professional YouTube video that answered hearing healthcare questions by the President of Audiology Australia, including:
• How common is hearing loss?
• Why is unaddressed hearing loss a big concern?
• Why don’t people get help for their hearing difficulties?
• How can we change these mindsets about hearing loss?
• What help is available for people with hearing difficulties?
We promoted the video on YouTube (140 views), Instagram (676 plays and seen by 581), LinkedIn (853 impressions), & played it for 110 speech students, distributed it to ENT clinical leads in Samoa, Kiribati, Fiji and the Cook Islands. The video was linked to a flyer developed to provide information on hearing loss, help-seeking, and a link to the YouTube video. Flyers (n = 250) were distributed in shops/restaurants and mosques of multicultural areas of Brisbane and Logan cities (Australia).
