A Hearing screening & sensitization program for employees, health care providers and the community

SRFASLP, SRIHER conducted the following events between 1st and 14th March 2024.
1) Hearing screening and sensitization stations at SRIHER: HearWHO app screening for all. Among the 314 individuals screened, 69 were referred for detailed evaluation.
2) Sensitization program: ‘Ear and Hearing care for Health care providers’ by the departments of Audiology and ENT; about 40 members attended.
3) Lecture by Prof. Vidya Ramkumar, SRFASLP at International Association of Logopedics and Phoniatrics (IALP) on ‘International perspectives on changing mindsets in ear and hearing care.’
4) Online-discussion among international Audiology students, a joint venture with IALP focusing on ‘what needs to improve towards knowledge skill and practice of hearing care.’
5) 82 employees were screened at Combat Vehicles Research and Development Establishment-DRDO, Chennai.
6) Dissemination: WHO’s public awareness materials were displayed through digital banners within campus and social media handles.
