Title: Hearing Care for All, Tackling the Problem from Birth; a Model for Primary Health Care Settings in Sub-Saharan Africa

Description:

A three-day awareness campaign on national television was launched, reaching out to over a thousand people across the nation. This was followed by a three-day screening event at Laquintinie Hospital in Douala, Cameroon. Each day began with an emphasis on the significance of hearing care and regular screening to parents and healthcare professionals. Newborns were screened using otoacoustic emission testing while older children underwent audiometry tests. Out of the 62 children screened, 52% were females. Seven children, accounting for 11%, failed the tests and were referred for additional evaluation, resulting in a positive impact.
