Title: Improving the Capacity for Primary Hearing Care in the Clinic Setting by Piloting a 2-Day Otoscopy Course

Description:

The 2023 World Hearing Day theme was ‘Ear and Hearing care for all! Let’s make it a reality!’ Unfortunately, ear and hearing care within primary health care in Kampala, Uganda is limited due to the lack of confidence among primary healthcare professionals in performing basic ear examinations. To tackle this, a two-day foundational course was piloted, aimed at interns and first-year ENT residents. The course, based on the WHO Primary Ear and Hearing Care Training Manual, offered essential knowledge on otoscopy and hearing tests in clinical settings. This initiative was undertaken by a team of six, including four ENT specialists and two other members.
