Title: 2023 World Hearing Day Celebration
Description: The activities for World Hearing Day commenced with advocacy visits in favor of comprehensive ear care to various officials, including the director general of the Edo Health Insurance Commission, the chief medical director of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, and the vice chancellor of the University of Benin. The objective was to integrate ear care into primary health care and state health insurance coverage. A position paper advocating for universal hearing care was also presented. Additionally, a health walk was organized to raise awareness about ear care in the community, accompanied by formal lectures on the topic. For this initiative, our partners included the BSA Hearing and Speech Centre, the Healthy Start Initiative, and Graceland Medical Centre. The culmination of these efforts was the provision of free hearing screenings for participants and treatment for those who needed it.
