Title: Introducing the Messages on WHD into Communities of Beijing

Description:

The Beijing Institute of Otolaryngology (BIO) initiated several strategies to advance Primary Ear and Hearing Care (PEHC) in China. This included a short film to introduce the national policy on prevention and treatment of hearing loss, participated in by policy-makers and leaders from the Ministry of Health (MOH), and aimed at increasing community and health officials’ awareness. Moreover, these efforts were complemented by live events that reached over 2 million viewers. BIO also advocated for hearing screening through tele-audiology, and trained around 5,000 community health workers on using the hearWHO app. To further bolster awareness, WHO materials were disseminated via booklets and social media, with approximately 1,900 promotional items reaching the community. Finally, a press conference was held to announce the translation of the WHO’s PEHC training materials, coinciding with World Hearing Day.
