Title: Accelerating Awareness of World Hearing Day in Uganda
Description: The Uganda Federation of Hard of Hearing (UFHOH) celebrated World Hearing Day on March 3, 2023 at Masaka Regional Referral Hospital, in collaboration with other organizations, Ministry of Health representatives, and audiologists who provided free services. UFHOH also engaged with the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), a government entity overseeing noise and sound pollution, to discuss World Hearing Day objectives and integrate safe listening recommendations from the World Report on Hearing into its strategy. As part of their campaign, UFHOH conducted safe listening awareness sessions at eight academic institutions, aiming to encourage behavior changes. They also raised hearing loss awareness through articles in government newspapers and social media promotions, reaching over nine million people. Furthermore, UFHOH disseminated training manuals for healthcare providers at seven hospitals.
