Description: The All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH) marked World Hearing Day 2023 with a month-long series of events across India to promote the importance of ear and hearing health. Key activities included a national workshop aimed at developing an action plan for the implementation of a universal newborn hearing screening program involving experts from various fields. Additionally, 32 hearing screening camps were set up, offering free hearing aids to those in need, benefiting over 2,500 individuals. Awareness was further raised through various platforms such as radio, TV, YouTube, live phone-ins, walkathons, pamphlet distribution in schools, and endorsements from celebrities, medical professionals, and political figures. Overall, AIISH’s efforts reached over 10 million people nationwide, significantly raising awareness about ear and hearing health.
