Title: Ear Cleaning and Audiometry in Karangasem Village
Description: A World Hearing Day event organised by Komda PGPKT Gunung Kidul took place at the village hall of Karangasem, Paliyan in the region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia on March 11, 2023. The activities included ear cleanings, hearing health education, fun games, and a little market. These were conducted through collaborations with PERHATI-KL Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta and South Central Java, the faculty of medicine at Gadjah Mada University, IDI Gunung Kidul Branch, the RSUD Wonosari hospital, and the faculty and residents of medicine at Islam Indonesia University. The event was successful in providing ear and hearing health education to 245 residents of the village. Additionally, ear examinations were provided for the villagers and the most common issue discovered was earwax impaction. Two cases of foreign bodies in the ear and three cases of presbycusis were also identified and treated.
