Title: Hearing care for all
Description: The symposium, which was accessible to everyone, and offered both written and Swedish sign language interpretation, attracted almost 100 attendees and received local radio coverage. It focused on the crucial role of hearing instructors at the primary healthcare level and experts on hearing aids in nursing homes. Despite Sweden’s robust hearing healthcare infrastructure, there’s an increasing need to train more professionals, particularly audiologists. Emphasis was also placed on the significance of audiological research for evidence-based hearing healthcare. This was illustrated through the introduction of the Audiological Research Center at Örebro University Hospital and two ongoing research projects. One project investigates the challenges faced by hearing-impaired individuals in the workplace, while the other is developing a questionnaire to gauge daily functionality for those with hearing issues.
