Organization: Government Hospitals
Region: Bahrain
Title: WHF
Description: The event aimed to raise public awareness about the importance of early detection of hearing loss and showcase the transformative power of modern technology. The ceremony was graced by retired founders and directors of the Cochlear Implant (CI) program. Among the highlights was an inspiring speech by Zainab, a CI recipient, who shared her journey from implantation at age one to medical school graduation. The event also featured creative expressions like a poem recital and live canvas painting by CI users. Attendees followed a series of stations that mirrored a patient’s journey from diagnosis to selection of appropriate hearing restoration, ending with rehabilitation. These stations included diagnostics, hearing aid options, CI companies, and rehabilitation where speech therapists and psychologists explained their roles post-implantation. A fun lip-reading game gave visitors a firsthand experience of the challenges faced by those with hearing impairments, and a special station was set up for children.
