Title: Ear and Hearing Care Awareness Campaign for Students on Campus

Description:

To commemorate Word Hearing Day, and in line with the theme “Ear and Hearing Care for All! Let’s Make it a Reality,” the Audiology Division of the Department of Speech-Pathology and Audiology at the University of the Witwatersrand held an awareness campaign across its campuses. Third-year audiology students gathered on the university’s main steps and central piazza and addressed staff and students on the importance of ear and hearing health. Thereafter, the students paraded around two of the university’s campuses, carrying balloons and placards promoting the theme of the day and the WHO’s World Hearing Day campaign hashtags. Students shared information on ear and hearing care and safe listening with university staff and students and distributed pamphlets in English, SeTswana, and isiZulu. The pamphlets and promotional activity developed by the WHO were included in the information shared by the students and students were available to address questions and concerns about ear and hearing health during their interactions.
