Title: QECH Audiology/ENT World Hearing Day Event
Description: On March 2, 2023, QECH Audiology and ENT team, in collaboration with the Malawi Liverpool Welcome Trust, Malawi National Association for the Deaf (MANAD), and Kamuzu University of Health Sciences, held an event at Chichiri Secondary School. The theme of the event was “Ear and Hearing Care for All”, aiming to educate and raise awareness about ear and hearing health. The date was chosen to allow students from Chichiri Day Secondary School to participate, as the following day, Martyr’s Day, was a public holiday in Malawi. The event included advocacy activities like songs, speeches, and posters, along with hearing screenings. Among the attendees, some were diagnosed with ear conditions, including 24 people with wax impactions, 2 with purulent drainage, 4 with signs of middle ear effusion, and one with a fungal infection. Deaf students participated in the event and sign language interpreters were made available.
