Title: Celebration of World Hearing Day-2023 at DEIC, Burdwan MCH
Description: In 2023, we commemorated World Hearing Day by engaging with 36 hearing-impaired children and young adults at the District Early Intervention Centre (DEIC) in Burdwan Medical College, Purba Bardhaman, India. The event began with a dance by a deaf girl and an opening song performed by hearing-impaired children. Several young individuals with hearing impairment shared their language development journeys. A panel discussion on the history, current status, and future of universal newborn hearing screenings was held prior to the launch of the “Primary Ear and Hearing Care Training Manual” by the chief medical officer of health for Purba Bardhaman District, West Bengal. Additionally, an audiologist with DEIC emphasized the importance of home-based auditory training for adult hearing aid users.
