Title: Celebration of World Hearing Day 2023 at DEIC, Burdwan MCH
Description: In 2023, we celebrated World Hearing Day with 36 hearing-impaired children and young adults at Burdwan Medical College’s District Early Intervention Centre in Purba Bardhaman, West Bengal, India. The event began with a dance performed by a young deaf girl, followed by a song from a group comprised of other hearing-impaired children. Next, a group of six young children with hearing loss shared their personal journeys with language development. A panel discussion regarding the past, present, and future of universal newborn hearing screening was held prior to the launch of the “Primary Ear and Hearing Care Training Manual” by the district’s chief medical officer. The event also included a presentation on the need for home-based auditory training for adult hearing aid users by the centre’s audiologist.
