Title: World Hearing Day Celebration – Dual Modality to Reach the Target
Description: JSS Medical College-Hospital marked World Hearing Day 2023 with a variety of initiatives to promote early detection of hearing loss. To begin, policymakers were sent informational leaflets, underscoring the need for ear and hearing care integration into immunization and maternal & child health programs. Public outreach initiatives included screening camps for hearing assessment and encouraging people to use JSS Shravana, an android application designed by the JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research, for regular hearing checks and early detection of hearing loss. Additionally, a 10-day workshop was held in February 2023 which provided cochlear implant surgeries for 12 children with congenital hearing loss. Lastly, an art competition themed “Ear and Hearing Care” was organized for undergraduate students to further spread awareness.
