Title: Ear and Hearing Care for All
Description: The Department of Audiology at the Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research (SRIHER) in Chennai, India marked World Hearing Day with various activities. These included a hearing screening program where 140 individuals were evaluated, and 36 were referred for further diagnostic checks. An awareness initiative was held for third-year nursing students to educate them on identifying hearing and ear-related issues and stress the importance of safe listening levels and the potential harm of earphone usage. Awareness materials were also displayed at the screening stations. The department took their awareness campaign to the community, using street plays and local art forms in the districts of Ariyalur, Kanchipuram, and Perambalur. They also organized a screening camp at Panchayat Middle School in Poonamalle, Chennai, where teachers were trained to identify students with ear and hearing concerns. Of the 57 children screened, one required an amplification device.
