Title: Awareness for Antenatal Mothers and Parents of Newborns in Rural Areas and ENT Screening for Rural School Children.

Description:

The Department of ENT at Shalinitai Meghe Hospital & Research Centre in Nagpur, India held an awareness program for prenatal and postnatal mothers and parents of newborns, mainly from rural areas. The event, coinciding with World Hearing Day 2023, provided information on early identification of deafness, hearing screening protocols, and available hospital services. An obstetrician provided guidance on prenatal care, while a pediatrician discussed developmental milestones and signs of potential deafness. Several ENT surgeons spoke about the importance of early intervention. A free Otoacoustic Emissions (OAE) screening camp was also organized for children born in the hospital. On the same day, a hearing screening camp was held for schoolchildren from rural areas. For the elderly, a specialty camp was set up at the Urban Health and Training Centre (UHTC) of Wadi and Koradi’s Rural Health Training Centre (RHTC), providing complimentary pure-tone audiometry to those experiencing hearing loss.
