Following the success of “Harmony of Senses: Bridging Ear and Eye Care” in 2024, Tzu Chi Philippines and the Philippine Academy of Audiology are launching the Tzu Chi Hearing Aid Bank, the Philippines’ first of its kind, a pioneering program focused on sustainable hearing healthcare through a circular ecosystem. This event will establish a one-stop facility for collecting, refurbishing, and distributing quality hearing aids sourced through Tzu Chi’s global network and local collaborators. The initiative features a multidisciplinary team of hearing care professionals alongside Tzu Chi staff and volunteers. Rather than monetary donations, beneficiaries participate in a “pay-it-forward” system through ear and hearing-related community services.
The program aligns with UN SDGs and WHO’s healthcare objectives by promoting responsible consumption through its recycling model, reducing healthcare inequalities, task-sharing model, and fostering community partnerships.
This redefines traditional charity by fostering a sustainable healthcare ecosystem and establishing a replicable model, especially in LMICs.
