Organization: The National Association of Parents of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children
Project title: Empowering Families and Communities for Inclusive Hearing Care and Early Intervention
Primary region: AFR
Country: Uganda
Event Description:
Aligned with the World Hearing Day 2025 theme, “Changing Mindsets: Empower yourself! Make ear & hearing care a reality for all!”, this project by NAPADEC seeks to transform societal perceptions of deaf individuals through empowerment, advocacy, and early intervention. The initiative aims to train 50 parents to advocate for inclusive hearing care, reach 1,000 individuals through media campaigns, and engage 200 community members at an Inclusive Hearing Care Fair to promote education on hearing loss prevention and available resources. Additionally, 500 advocacy materials will be distributed to parents, educators, and leaders, fostering inclusive practices and understanding. By equipping parents with advocacy tools and enhancing vocational training for deaf youth, the project empowers families and promotes self-reliance, making inclusive hearing care a reality in Nama Sub-county, Mukono District.
