Event Description:
The hearX Foundation will host World Hearing Day events (3–7 March) in underserved communities in Pretoria (Atteridgeville), Cape Town (Khayelitsha), and the Paarl Valley region (Mbekweni, Paarl East & Wellington) – aiming to reach 2000 individuals. In collaboration with community partners, the University of Pretoria, and the Clinton Health Access Initiative SA, we will engage four target groups: primary school children, high school adolescents, older adults, and policymakers.
Each group will participate in tailored awareness sessions incorporating WHO WHD materials (posters, pamphlets, fact sheets, badges, and t-shirts). The sessions will be delivered in a fun and interactive style to facilitate learning and engagement (i.e. games, role-play, quizzes, colouring competitions). Hearing screenings will also be offered using mHealth-supported digital devices. These events align with our ongoing programmes, ensuring follow-up care and sustained engagement.
