Activities started with sensitization on a national TV channel (Canal2) over a period 3 days, impacting over 1000 people nation-wide.
This was followed by 3-days screening activities at Laquintinie Hospital in Douala.
Each screening day was started by sensitization on the importance of hearing care and routine screening to the parents as well to the health personnel. New-born screening was done using Otoacoustic emissions & audiometry was done for older children. 62 children were screened (52% females), 7 (11%) failed the tests and were referred for further assessment, with a positive impact.
